If love is like a light bulb, how bright is yours?

We live in a world of infinite love, don’t we? We are told, love is all around, it is everywhere we go, so why are so many people living lives that don't have an abundance of love within them?

Let me use a metaphor to explain what I think is going on globally in relation to love.

The earth and all life on the planet is dependent upon the sun to provide light and warmth.

Everything the sun is made of provides light and warmth, it does it all the time and will do it until the fuel it is made of runs out. That is its purpose and it does it all the time, without stopping.

When we stand in the sun, when we watch a sunrise we experience light, warmth, hope, joy, passion, we know we are alive.

When we stand in the presence of someone who loves us we experience light, warmth, hope, joy, passion, we know we are alive.

Can you see how alike love and light are? It would be impossible to live a full life without both of these essential ingredients.

However many of us spend time in the dark and we feel frightened that we will not see light again. Many spend time not being loved and feel frightened that they will never feel love again.

Not being in sunlight is not good for us, not being in love is not good for us. Ok so what can we do about it?

Well I am not going to give advice about out in the sun, but I would advise looking at love in two ways.

First, if you are not around love in some way in your daily life, find some love from somewhere. By this I mean switch off the drama and anger on TV, internet and spend some time in quiet and silence with a book of poetry, of positive living, or quotes on love and kindness.

You do not need to read many to realise many words of love have been written and that the words on selfless love are the words that inspire the world. The words on selfish love do not inspire. For example my book The Five Word Legacy is written for exactly that purpose, how to find love and share it with others. My book and many others offering you a chance to change your outlook on love and on life.

Second think of yourself as a LOVE light bulb. Go on do it and consider how bright my bulb is right now? Am I bright so all around can see me, see the love I have for the world and want to get to know me and my secret for having this love?

Or is my bulb dim, barely showing, does the anger, pain or anxiety I am going through show more than my light?

Make a conscious choice, find love for yourself and share it in every moment that you can. Be life the sun, let love be the never-ending fuel for your LOVE light bulb and shine!

Hi Romany, thank you for your comments. Yes this is the universe's freeby for us all, sunlight and love light. Let's use them both! Love and light (literally) Noel

"selfish love" ? That's a contradiction in terms... either one cancels out the other.

sunshine... lots of people marvelling at how I look after making good use of it. Except for freckle-Celtic skin-types, problems mostly occur only when people lie multiple hours in sun instead of little and often.
